Havsbrún, the feed production facility of Bakkafrost Group, has received certification under the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Standard. This certification is recognized internationally and sets requirements for environmental and social responsibility throughout the feed supply chain, from sourcing raw materials to production and traceability.

According to Regin Jacobsen, CEO of Bakkafrost, “This certification of Havsbrún is a major step towards our goal of having all our salmon ASC-certified. It demonstrates the strength of our integrated value chain and our commitment to responsible aquaculture – from feed to fork.”

The ASC Feed Standard was developed with input from experts, NGOs, and industry leaders. It establishes criteria designed to ensure that feed producers minimize their environmental impact, protect biodiversity, and maintain fair working conditions.

Havsbrún plays a central role in producing high-quality feed for Bakkafrost’s salmon operations. The company states that achieving this certification aligns with its strategy to have all salmon certified by ASC standards and reinforces its focus on sustainability across its entire value chain.

The company highlights that this achievement reflects its ongoing commitment to responsible feed production and sustainable aquaculture practices.
