Bolton Adhesives is advancing its commitment to sustainability by enhancing the circularity of its packaging and formulations. Indre Thiel, Sustainable Development Director at UHU, Bolton Adhesives, stated: “We see this journey as an opportunity to not only make a difference but to be a contributor in advancing the circular economy and making the best use of our limited resources.” The company is aligning its practices with sustainability to innovate for both consumers and the environment.

A significant milestone was achieved over ten years ago when Bolton Adhesives began using thin-wall cartridges for much of its adhesive products, saving around 80 tons of plastic annually. From 2024 onwards, the company plans to increase the use of recycled materials in its products. For instance, Poly Max products are now packaged in cartridges made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic. Additionally, black cartridges used in various products like Montagekit and Liquid Rubber are made with 95% post-consumer recycled plastic. These efforts have resulted in a more than 35% reduction in virgin plastic use per year across cartridge packaging.

The internal teams at Bolton Adhesives, including Marketing, R&D, Procurement, and Supply Chain departments, played a crucial role in these changes by collaborating with suppliers to ensure that recycled materials meet high-quality standards while maintaining product performance. Transparency about goals and achievements remains vital for building trust with stakeholders as the company continues on its path toward decarbonization.
