Cooke Aquaculture Inc. has issued a warning to the public regarding fraudulent job offers being circulated by individuals posing as Cooke employees. The company has received reports of fake job offer letters sent to job seekers via email and through recruitment platforms such as LinkedIn and Indeed.

According to Cooke, these scammers are offering employment positions and asking recipients for sensitive information, including government-issued identification, proof of address documents like utility bills or bank statements, and banking details such as direct deposit forms or void cheques. In some cases, the fraudsters send counterfeit documents, including contracts of employment, and may even confirm arrangements for home office setups and training processes in an effort to appear legitimate.

“Scammers are savvy criminals who use a variety of tactics to get personal and financial information to access funds or steal identities,” the company stated.

Cooke is advising people seeking jobs to only trust its official postings on www.cookeseafood.com, www.mycookecareer.com, or its Facebook page @mycookecareer. The company urges anyone who believes they have been targeted by these scams or thinks they may be a victim to contact their local police or RCMP.

Cooke Aquaculture Inc. is recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies and is listed among Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers.
