PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JAPFA) is once again hosting the JAPFA Fide Rated 2025, reaffirming its commitment to supporting chess development in Indonesia. The event, organized in collaboration with the Indonesian Chess Association (PB PERCASI), is taking place from May 10 to 15, 2025, at Wisma Serbaguna Senayan in Central Jakarta. It features competitors from six countries: Australia, India, China, Italy, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia.
Rachmat Indrajaya, Director of Corporate Affairs at JAPFA, stated: “As a company that cares about human resource development and sports, we are proud to present JAPFA Fide Rated again this year. In addition to promoting chess in Indonesia, we hope this event continues to be a platform for national chess players to showcase their achievements on the international stage.”
The JAPFA Fide Rated 2025 is designed as an important venue for participants to hone their skills, increase their elo ratings, and achieve international titles from FIDE. Previously, local chess players had to travel abroad to pursue international titles or improve their elo ratings. With the JAPFA Fide Rated event held locally, Indonesian players now have the opportunity to achieve success on home soil.
“The JAPFA Fide Rated 2025 is a golden opportunity for young chess players to hone their skills, gather FIDE points, and challenge themselves against top foreign players,” said Utut Adianto, Chairman of PB PERCASI.
The tournament employs a nine-round Swiss system across two main categories: Open and Challenger. Additionally, there is a blitz chess category. The Open category is intended for players with an elo rating of at least 2000. Those with an elo rating below 2000 can compete in the Challenger category.
With consistent organization over the years, the JAPFA Fide Rated has become an essential avenue for regenerating and developing national chess talent. The tournament aims not only to produce champions but also to inspire more young people to love the game of chess.
