Trident Seafoods’ pollock nuggets named finalist for 2026 Seafood Excellence Awards

Trident Seafoods announced that its Crispy Battered Sauceable Wild Alaska Pollock Nuggets have been selected as a finalist in the 2026 Seafood Excellence Awards. The product is competing in the Best New Foodservice Product category, with winners to be revealed on March 15, 2026, during the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) event in Boston.

“Being named a finalist for a Seafood Excellence Award is not only an honor, but a meaningful validation of the innovation behind our Crispy Battered Sauceable Wild Alaska Pollock Nugget product,” said Brian Head, Vice President of Food Service Sales at Trident Seafoods. “What makes this product unique and unlike just about anything on the market is that it adapts across cuisines and formats, all while holding its crispy texture even when sauced and hot-held.”

The Seafood Excellence Awards recognize new seafood products in North America based on criteria such as uniqueness, taste profile, packaging, market potential, convenience, nutritional value and originality.

“Our Crispy Battered Sauceable Wild Alaska Pollock Nuggets are truly perfect for dine-in, takeout and delivery,” added Head. “We can pull food and menu trends data from a number of resources, and what we’ve found is that small, bite-sized foods and shareables have grown in popularity over the last four years.”

The nuggets are made from wild-caught pollock sourced sustainably from Alaskan waters. They feature a neutral-savory battered coating designed to remain crispy even after being sauced or held hot. The product previously won the People’s Choice award at the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation’s annual Alaska Symphony of Seafood event.

Winners of the Seafood Excellence Awards will be announced at SENA’s Wave Makers’ Zone (booth No. 3165) at the Thomas M. Menino Convention and Exhibition Center. The awards include categories for Best Retail Product and Best Foodservice Product.

In addition to the nominated nuggets, Trident Seafoods will showcase several other products under its own brand as well as Portlock and Louis Kemp brands during SENA’s New Product Showcase. These products include Crispy Fish Nuggets made from whole fillets of Wild Alaska Pollock; Smoked Sockeye Salmon Bites; Skinless Loin Portions; Traditionally Smoked Wild Caught Alaska King Salmon; Louis Kemp Sea Legs crafted in Japan; and Crab Delights featuring crab-flavored seafood made with Wild Alaska Pollock.
